Caloosa
Humane Society Inc. serves the citizens of Glades and Hendry County. This
not-for-profit organization surgically alters cats and dogs 2 or 3 times per
month at affordable prices. They are dedicated to offer a haven to unwanted
animals and finding permanent and loving homes for them. Stray animals are accepted
after going through Animal Control. The Caloosa Humane Society also promotes
responsible pet ownership through their humane education program. Adoption fees
include Nationally Registered ID Chip, Shots up to date, Fecal, worming, spay/neuter,
Heartworm test for dogs over 6 months, a Felv/Fiv test for all cats and Flea
Treatment. In addition, their services are offered to the community to help
stop the over-population of dogs and cats by stopping unwanted births of hundreds
of kittens and puppies every year in our neighborhoods.
The Tri County Humane
Society was founded as a no-kill organization in July 2001 after taking
over the Lullis Ritter Animal Shelter. They are dedicated to stop the killing
over 45,000 unwanted pets in Broward County, 65,000 in Miami-Dade County, and
60,000 in Palm Beach County each year. With this goal in mind the Tri County
Humane Society will not release an animal to another organization that has a
policy of euthanasia. In addition, they only place animals with qualified prospective
owners. Over that past year over 3,200 pups, cats, dogs and kittens that were
on death row ready to be euthanized where rescued by this Humane Society. Since
Tri County took over the Lullis Ritter Animal they have had 2121 adoptions.
